Is God in control of everything?

Eph. 6:14–17
13 Therefore, take up the full armour of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. I want us to notice a few key words in this verse - 1. Take up 2. Resist 3. Evil day 4. Stand firm

How do we normally respond when we encounter our 'evil day'? I have noticed the most common reactions are one of self-pity, helplessness and of desperation. Sometimes we begin to blame ourselves, others or even God. Others are quite 'spiritual' they accept their 'evil day' as the perfect will of the Lord, and ask for grace to suffer even if its disease, disaster or death, like Job in the Bible. The most famous and over preached statement among Gods people, "God is in control". The other common route the average Christian takes is to try to find someone else to do their praying, their 'spiritual guru' ,the 'man of God' or their 'platform minister'.

Listen to the instruction of the Holy Spirit as to what we should do when we encounter our 'evil day'  - 'Take up', 'Resist', and 'Stand Firm' having done everything. It's a command to maintain a posture for battle and casting out the enemy. We must know that we are surrounded also by a cloud of enemies (disembodied demonic spirits) whose only agenda is to kill, steal and destroy us. They love to schedule misery and tyranny for us every day. 'Take-up' means that we take-up the responsibility to resist the dark unseen powers that work against us through the power of the Holy Spirit; the onus falls squarely on us.

If God is in control of everything why will He ask us to resist the devil? The answer is simple, He wants His children to demonstrate His power. The problem is, we are foolish and sluggish disciples who have failed to believe His word and know our responsibility. We would rather believe the lies of the devil and passively wait for God to rescue us because, "He is in control". Crying does not help, neither does complaining.  The answer is: get up and fight, resist these evil hordes with God's word in your mouth and faith in your heart , even when we are down or feel defeated.

Will we watch these demons destroy us, our family and  God's destiny for us or will we rise-up and take-up our God given responsibility and resist them? Let us wake up oh sleeping disciples and know the will of  the Lord and let us develop a warrior mentality, fighting the good fight of faith. Be a warrior not a worrier.

Let us fight the good fight of faith today.
